Our Approach to Your Data

Aura Companion is built on a local-first architecture. Your conversations, location, reminders, lists, family presence data, and all personal information stay on your own device or your self-hosted Aura-Core server. We do not collect, store, or retain any of your personal data on our servers.

How to Delete Your Data

Since all data lives on your own hardware, you are in complete control of deletion. Here's how:

1. Delete data from the app
   Open Aura Companion, go to Settings → Clear Local Data. This wipes all locally stored conversations, reminders, lists, and cached information from your device immediately.
2. Revoke permissions
   Go to your phone's Settings → Apps → Aura Companion → Permissions and disable location, microphone, and any other permissions you've granted. This stops all future data access.
3. Delete server data (if using Aura-Core)
   If you connected the app to your self-hosted Aura-Core server, your data is stored there — not with us. To delete it, log into your Aura-Core server and remove files from the aura_data/ directory, or simply stop the server and delete your Aura-Core installation folder.
4. Uninstall the app
   Deleting Aura Companion from your device removes all remaining app-related local data. There is nothing left behind.

What Happens After Deletion

• All locally stored conversations, reminders, and lists are gone immediately.
• Family presence / location tracking stops the moment permissions are revoked.
• Your Aura-Core server data is deleted when you remove it from your own hardware.
• No backups of your data exist on our servers — because we never had it.

Requesting Confirmation

If you'd like written confirmation that no data associated with you is stored on our systems, or if you have any questions about the deletion process, we're happy to help. Because we don't hold your data, we can confidently confirm its absence.

Third-Party Services

Aura Companion does not share data with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. If you use Cloudflare's tunnel to connect remotely to your Aura-Core server, Cloudflare acts only as an encrypted passthrough — it cannot decrypt your traffic and does not store your data. No third party holds any of your information.
